Arrivial in Concepcion, Chile

Hey, I made it safely here! It is really beautiful and I am really excited to get assigned tomorrow. The plane ride in was sweet because you could see the snow capped mountains out one side and the coast out the other.

I love you guys!

Here are some pictures of goodbyes at the Mexico MTC my last week:
Loved my MTC District! A great teacher, Hermano Sanchez in the middle.

Hermana Martinez, another amazing teacher.

Hermano Rangel - our teachers were so good to us! You can also tell that they didn't want me to forget them at the MTC barbershop; they gave me a buzz.
Going to miss the grounds crew and the way they treated us like celebrities.  There were days that I wanted to go and join them!

Getting Ready

Sunrise at the Mexico MTC
It has been a pretty average week here at the CCM. Nothing really big to report, just lots of studying. We had a great temple trip this morning. It is sad to think I don’t get to go to the temple again for the next couple of years. It is such a great blessing to be able to go and sit in the Celestial room.

We had a great fireside that was broadcast from the MTC in Provo last night. Elder Oaks spoke about the unique characteristics of our church that separate us from other religions. I really enjoyed it. He also talked about the members becoming more involved with missionary work.

I have been thinking a lot about Ammon lately. Ammon is one of my favorite Book of Mormon heroes. He teaches with great power and strength. The attribute that I admire most is his humility. One of my favorite verses in the Book of Mormon is Alma 26:12. In this verse Ammon praises God because in God’s strength he can do all things. What a great example of humility. Nephi has such a great attitude and incredible faith. I absolutely love the Book of Mormon because it is full of examples like Ammon and Nephi.

Will has loved the other Missionaries he has met at the MTC.
Sorry, this letter is kind of lame, there really hasn’t been much going on here. I am very ready to fly to Chile next week. The CCM is awesome, but everyday is pretty much the same and it can be a little long sometimes.

I get up at 6:00 a.m., shower and do a few other things then head to breakfast at seven. After breakfast we head to class and have personal study for an hour. Then at 8:30 a.m. we either teach a lesson or have companion study. After that at 9:30 we usually have a class on teaching until lunch at noon. After lunch we have language study from 1 to 2:00. Then we have gym until 3:00. Prep time until 3:30. At 3:30 we have language study using a computer program called TALL developed by BYU. After that we have additional study and planning until dinner a 5:30. After dinner, we teach again or study. Then we have a language class followed by a teaching class. Then we head back to the house at 9:30 and have personal time until lights out 10:30. It is starting to get a little old.

Loving the double handed trimmer, missing yard work.

I really miss yard work. We get to do service once a week, but it is usually cleaning the cafeteria. I can’t believe I am saying this but I would kill to be outside digging holes for trees. I hate being inside all day. That is another reason why I am excited to get to Chile.

The language is tough but I’ve accepted that and hope it will come soon. I’ve just got to keep working at it. I hear ¿Como esta? about 60 times a day. Missionaries don’t use the “tu” form because it is informal. You only use the “tu” form when praying or talking to family.

Being a zone leader really isn’t that different. I have to teach in a class on Sunday and interview all of the district leaders.  We also make the assignments for music and Sacrament in Sacrament Meeting.
Olympus High School Missionaries
Dad, will you tell my young men’s leaders how grateful I am for them? I was thinking about them this week. They are so incredible. I love those guys so much, they have been so good to me.

I love you all so much and miss you tons! Sorry this letter is choppy it is just a stream of thoughts.

Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you about the Pratts (the MTC President and his wife). We don’t have much interaction with them, mostly just the branch president. President Pratt is great though. He is a straight shooter and tells it like it is. I really like him.  Can’t wait to tell you about Chile. I hope I can get in touch with you at the airport.

Love you!
